Andre Carter is playing well for the Washington Redskins

30-year old DE Andre Carter is having his best season with the Redskins.  With DT Albert Haynesworth taking up blockers on the inside it’s preventing teams from doubling Carter and the results have been really good this year.  Carter has played in 11 games for the Redskins this season and he has made 46 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, defensed 3 passes, forced 3 fumbles and he has 9 sacks.  Opposing QBs better keep tabs of where Carter is as he has been living in the other teams’ backfield most of this year and it should continue.

Steve Suisham is stepping up for the Washington Redskins this season

Kicker Steve Suisham has done a very solid job for the Redskins this season.  He is 9 for 9 on field goals and he is 9 for 10 on extra points.  That means that the Redskins have only left 1 point on the field because of the kicking game.  That is outstanding and with the Redskins’ offense struggling they need to make every point count and Suisham is kicking great this season.

Andre Carter is stepping up for the Washington Redskins

30-year old DE Andre Carter has been really solid for the Redskins this season.  He has played in all 7 games for the Redskins this season and he has made 34 tackles, he has 6.5 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss, 3 forced fumbles and he has defensed 3 passes.  Carter is the best player on the defense right now other than London Fletcher.  The one person that both Fletcher and Carter owe a little of their success to is DT Albert Haynesworth who is keeping Fletcher clean to make plays and Carter isn’t getting double teamed allowing him to get to the QB.

London Fletcher is still a tackling machine for the Washington Redskins

Sure, the Washington Redskins are allowing 127.7 yards rushing and 4.4  yards per carry this season but you can’t blame linebacker London Fletcher for that.  He has been a tackling machine his whole career and nothing has changed this season.  Fletcher already has 43 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and he has defensed 1 pass this season.  He might have lost a little of his speed but tackle to tackle he’s  still an elite linebacker.  The next in line in tackles for the Redskins this season is safety Chris Horton with 21 which shows just how active Fletcher has been this year.  Hopefully Fletcher will start rubbing off on his teammates soon as the Redskins have to much talent to be playing like they are this season on defense.

Could this be the season that Antwaan Randle El steps up for the Washington Redskins?

Blogged under Steppin Up, Bloglockers, Front Page, General Redskins Talk by admin on Friday 18 September 2009 at 9:49 am

The Redskins gave Antwaan Randle El a lot of money with the expectation that he would turn into a impact WR.  The Redskins are still waiting for Randle El to get to that level of play.  He did catch 7 passes for 98 yards (14.0 avg) in the season opener against the Giants and the Redskins hope he can keep up the good work.  Randle El has now played in 112 games in his NFL career and he has caught 305 passes for 3,782 yards (12.4 avg) with 15 TD grabs.  He has also carried the ball 78 times for 436 yards (5.6 ypc) in his career.  The Redskins should bring back trick plays in which Randle El throws the football as he is stunningly effective on those kind of plays.  Randle El has completed 20 of 25 passes (80%) for 281 yards with 4 TD passes and 0 INTs (153.1 QB Rating) in his career.
