28-year old Jason Campbell’s overall numbers don’t look too bad but the bottom line is the Redskins only averaged 16.6 points per game.  Campbell played in 16 games for the Redskins this season and he completed 327 of 507 passes (64.5%) for 3,618 yards with 20 TD passes and 15 INTs (86.4 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 46 times for 236 yards (5.1 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Campbell has now played in 52 games in his NFL career and he has completed 1,002 of 1,637 passes (61.2%) for 10,860 yards with 55 TD passes and 38 INTs (82.3 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 153 times for 786 yards (5.1 ypc) wiht 3 TD runs in his career.  The Redskins will likely try to trade Campbell in the off-season unless the new head coach likes him.

38-year old Todd Collins is likely nearing the end of the line in the NFL.  He played in 3 games for the Redskins this season and he completed 12 of 23 passes (52.2%) for 144 yards with 0 TDs and 0 INTs (71.6 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 1 time for 0 yards (0.0 ypc).  Collins has now played in 47 games in his NFL career and he has completed 381 of 674 passes (56.5%) for 4,479 yards with 22 TD passes and 19 INTs (76.0 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 83 times for 152 yards (1.8 ypc) in his NFL career.  Look for the Redskins to let Collins walk away in the off-season.

Kareem Moore needs to step up for the Washington Redskins

25-year old saftey Kareem Moore will take over for Reed Doughty at strong safety this weekend and they need him to play well.  Moore has played in 15 games for the Redskins this season and he has made 26 tackles, forced 2 fumbles, defensed 2 passes and he has 1 interception this season.  The Redskins hope that Moore is ready for the challenge because he will likely be dealing with Antonio Gates quite a bit in the game on Sunday.

Quinton Ganther has been promoted to the first team at RB for the Washington Redskins

The Redskins have promoted Quinton Ganther to the starting line-up and his first start will come against the Raiders in Oakland on Sunday.  He is now set up for success as the Raiders are allowing 158.7 yards rushing per game and 4.6 yards per carry.  Ganthers has played in 4 games for the Redskins this season and he has carried the ball 19 times for 88 yards (4.6 ypc).  He has also caught 2 passes for 14 yards (7.0 avg) this year.  Look for Ganther to make the most of his big chance with the Redskins this weekend.

The Washington Redskins will likely ride this season out with Jason Campbell at QB

Blogged under Needs to Step Up, Bloglockers, Front Page, General Redskins Talk by admin on Monday 23 November 2009 at 1:14 pm

27-year old Jason Campbell will likely be traded in the off season because he has not improved much to this point in his career.  He has played in all 10 games for the Redskins this season and he has completed 192 of 291 passes (66%) for 2,126 yards with 10 TD passes and 9 INTs (86.1 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 31 times for 158 yards (5.1 ypc) this year.  Campbell is saved by the fact that the Redskins won’t be likely yanking him for Todd Collins who is ancient for a QB.  Campbell has now played in 46 games for the Redskins in his career and he has completed 867 of 1,421 passes (61%) for 9,368 yards with 45 TD passes and 32 INTs (81.6 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 138 times for 708 yards (5.1 ypc) with 2 TD runs in his career.  The Redskins really need to go in a different direction at QB starting in 2010.

Rock Cartwright will get his chance to shine for the Washington Redskins

Blogged under Needs to Step Up, Bloglockers, Front Page, General Redskins Talk by admin on Monday 23 November 2009 at 10:48 am

29-year old RB Rock Cartwright did not want to get his big chance this way as Clinton Portis (concussion) and Ladell Betts (torn ACL+MCL) are both injured.  He is now the featured running back for the Redskins until Portis is ready to return to action.  He has played in 10 games this season for the Redskins and he has carried the ball 30 times for 135 yards (4.5 ypc).  Cartwright has also caught 13 passes for 93 yards (7.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  The big question with Cartwright is whether or not he will still return kickoffs.  My guess is that he won’t due to his importance on offense.  He has returned 28 kickoffs for 644 yards (23.0 avg) so far this season.  Cartwright has waited a long time for his chance to show what he can really do at RB in the NFL.  He has played in 117 games in 8 years for the Redskins and he has carried the ball 181 times for 796 yards (4.4 ypc) with 6 TD runs.  He has also caught 45 passes for 406 yards (9.0 avg) with 2 TD grabs in his career.  Cartwright has earned his paychecks from the Redskins on special teams as he has returned 211 kickoffs for 5,108 yards (24.2 avg) with 1 TD return.  Quinton Ganther will move up the depth chart to the #2 job behind Cartwright.  He has played in 2 games for the Redskins this season and he has carried the ball 6 times for 10 yards (1.7 ypc) and he has also caught 1 pass for 18 yards.
