The Washington Redskins waive 25-year old RB Ryan Torain.  Torain played in 8 games for the Redskins this year and he carried the ball 59 times for 200 yards (3.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 6 passes for 23 yards (3.8 avg) this year.  Torain played in 18 games in his two years with the Redskins and he carried the ball 223 times for 942 yards (4.2 ypc) with 5 TD runs.  He also caught 24 passes for 148 yards (6.2 ypc) with 2 TD grabs.  The emergence of rookie RBs Roy Helu and Evan Royster have made Ryan Torain expendable.

The Washington Redskins have released safety Kareem Moore

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 15 November 2011 at 9:13 pm

The Redskins have released 27-year old safety Kareem Moore.  Moore did not play at all this season due to injury.  Moore played in 42 games in four years with the Redskins and he had 113 tackles, 8 passes defensed, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.  Other safeties have passed up Moore while he was out this year, so that is the reason the Redskins let him go.  If he’s healthy, he shouldn’t have a problem finding a new team.

The Washington Redskins waive WR Donte’ Stallworth

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 9 November 2011 at 12:35 pm

The Redskins have waived 30-year old WR Donte’ Stallworth.  Stallworth played in four games for the Redskins last year and he caught 5 passes for 46 yards (9.2 avg).  He has now played in 107 games in his first 9 years in the NFL and he has caught 303 passes for 4,511 yards (14.9 avg) with 32 TD grabs.  It’s looking like Stallworth is near the end of this career as he didn’t step up when the Redskins needed him to.

UPDATE:  (11/15/2011) – The Redskins have re-signed Donte’ Stallworth.

The Washington Redskins waive CB Brandyn Thompson

The Redskins have released 26-year old safety Chris Horton.  Horton played in 7 games for the Redskins last year and he had 9 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  Horton played in 29 games in his three years with the Redskins and he had 122 tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 8 passes defensed and 3 interceptions.  Horton had a decent rookie season for the Redskins but it has been all downhill since then.

The Washington Redskins release LB H.B. Blades

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 6:59 pm

The Redskins have released 26-year old linebacker H.B. Blades.  Blades played in all 16 games for the Redskins last year and he had 18 tackles.  He played in 64 games in his four years with the Redskins and he had 139 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed.  Blades wasn’t much of a playmaker on D and he can also be replaced pretty easily on special teams.  This is a case of addition by subtraction for the Redskins as he was just taking up roster space.

The Washington Redskins release RB Keiland Williams

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 6:57 pm

The Redskins have released 24-year old RB Keiland Williams.  Williams played in 15 games (3 starts) as a rookie for the Redskins last year and he carried the ball 65 times for 261 yards (4.0 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  He also caught 39 passes for 309 yards (7.9 avg) with 2 TD grabs for the Skins last year.  The Redskins are going in a different direction at RB and Williams got caught in a numbers game.  Look for some team to give him a chance in 2011.

The Washington Redskins have waived 24-year old WR Malcolm Kelly with a injury settlement.  Kelly did not play last season due to injury.  He played in 21 games (10 starts) in his three years with the Redskins and he caught 28 passes for 365 yards (13.0 avg) with 0 TD grabs.  Kelly was a huge disappointment for the Redskins and they won’t miss him one bit going forward.

The Washington Redskins release linebacker Robert Henson

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Leaving Town by admin on Saturday 6 August 2011 at 3:41 pm

The Redskins have released 25-year old linebacker Robert Henson.  Henson did not get into any games last year due to injury.  He  played in 6 games in his two years with the Redskins and he had a whopping 3 tackles.  He won’t be missed at all going forward.  This was just the Redskins trimming some fat from the roster.
