The Washington Redskins will be without Clinton Portis for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 14 November 2009 at 1:02 am

Starting running back Clinton Portis will be out at least this week and maybe longer due to a serious concussion he suffered last week against the Falcons.  He has carried the ball 124 times for 494 yards (4.0 ypc) with 1 TD run and he has also caught 9 passes for 57 yards (6.3 avg) with a TD grab so far this season.  Ladell Betts will get the first chance to replace Portis but he has a banged up ankle.  He has carried the ball 26 times for 91 yards (3.5 ypc) with a TD run and he has also caught 16 passes for 173 yards (10.8 avg).  If Betts were healthy the Redskins wouldn’t suffer much of a dropoff with Portis out but with him gimpy Rock Cartwright might get a chance to get in on the fun.  He has carried the ball 8 times for 27 yards (3.4 ypc) and he has also caught 4 passes for 11 yards (2.8 avg) this season.  The Redskins have also re-signed RB Quinton Ganther to help out with depth at running back while Portis is out of action.

The Washington Redskins lose safety Chris Horton for 4-6 weeks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 9 November 2009 at 3:50 pm

The Redskins have lost starting safety Chris Horton for 4-6 weeks due to ligament damage in his toe.  Horton has played in all 8 games for the Redskins this season and he has made 37 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, he has forced 1 fumble and he has defensed 3 passes.  Reed Doughty will replace Horton in the starting lineup at strong safety.  He has played in all 8 games for the Redskins this season and he has made 43 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss and he has 1 sack.  This is only a minor downgrade for the Skins as Doughty is a decent player.

UPDATE:  The Redskins have placed Chris Horton on the Injured Reserve List ending his season.

The Washington Redskins lose linebacker H.B. Blades

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 4 November 2009 at 2:30 pm

The Redskins will be without backup linebacker H.B. Blades against the Falcons this weekend due to the fact that he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last Tuesday.  Blades has 10 tackles this season as he mostly just plays on special teams for the Redskins.  They shouldn’t miss him too much against the Falcons.

The Washington Redskins lose CB Byron Westbrook

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 10:13 am

The Redskins will be without Byron Westbrook for at least one week due to recent minor knee surgery.  Westbrook has played in 7 games this season for the Redskins and he has 4 tackles.  He has also returned 1 punt for 0 yards.  The Redskins won’t miss Westbrook too much as he does most of his work on special teams.

The Washington Redskins lose Chris Cooley

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 27 October 2009 at 7:16 am

The Redskins have lost starting tight end Chris Cooley for the rest of the season due to a broken right ankle.  Cooley played in all 7 games for the Redskins this season and he caught 29 passes for 332 yards (11.4 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  He will be replaced by second year TE Fred Davis.  Davis has played in all 7 games for the Redskins this season and he has caught 15 passes for 123 yards (8.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  The Redskins are hoping that Davis keeps up the good work because the TE is very important in the offense.

UPDATE:  It appears that Cooley will now only miss four weeks and that is a good thing for the Redskins who need him badly.

The Washington Redskins release punter Glenn Pakulak

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 21 October 2009 at 7:24 am

The Redskins have released 29-year old punter Glenn Pakulak with Hunter Smith ready to return to action.  Pakulak punted in 2 games for the Redskins this season.  He punted the ball 13 times for 498 yards (38.3 avg) with only 1 touchback (7.7%) and he pinned the opposition inside the 20-yard line 4 times (30.8%).  The Redskins will likely look for someone else to punt if Hunter Smith gets hurt again.  The Redskins have re-signed veteran DE Renaldo Wynn to replace Pakulak on the active roster.

The Washington Redskins lose RG Randy Thomas for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 23 September 2009 at 11:25 am

The Redskins have lost starting right guard Randy Thomas for the rest of the season due to a torn right triceps muscle.  Chad Rhinehart will replace him in the starting lineup.  Rhinehart was a 3rd round pick of the Redskins in 2008 but he spent the season on the practice squad.  This will be a huge dropoff in play for the Redskins likely hurting them more in the running game.

The Washington Redskins lose DE/OLB Jason Taylor for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 27 September 2008 at 6:55 pm

The Redskins have lost DE/OLB Jason Taylor indefinately after he underwent emergency surgery on his calf last Monday.  He has made 7 tackles, has 1 sack and he has defensed 4 passes this season for the Redskins.  The Redskins will definately miss Taylor’s pass rush ability as no one on the current roster has a skill set comparable to him.

The Washington Redskins lose DE Phillip Daniels for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Sunday 20 July 2008 at 11:44 pm

The Redskins have lost starting DE Phillip Daniels for the season due to a torn ACL which he will have surgery on this coming Friday ending his season.  He was injured in practice today as well as DE Alex Buzbee who will also miss the season (ruptured ACL).  Daniels played in 15 games for the Redskins last season and he had 37 tackles, defensed 9 passes, had 2.5 sacks and he forced 4 fumbles.  The Redskins made a quick move to rectify this situation.

Jason Campbell is out for at least the rest of the regular season for the Washington Redskins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports,Redskins Headlines by admin on Friday 7 December 2007 at 1:49 pm

Jason Campbell will miss the rest of the regular season for the Redskins after dislocating his kneecap in last night’s game with the Bears.  Campbell played decent this season for the Redskins as he completed 250 of 417 passes (60%) for 2,700 yards with 12 TD passes and 11 interceptions (77.6 QB Rating).  He also ran the ball well as he carried it 36 times for 185 yards (5.1 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Todd Collins was super last night for the Redskins and he will take over as the starting QB as the Skins try to make a push for the playoffs.  Collins completed 15 of 20 passes for 224 yards with 2 TDs and 0 interceptions.  Still, Collins hasn’t played in a long time and teams will now have recent gamefilm on him to prepare for.
