The Washington Redskins will be without TE Chris Cooley for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 16 August 2011 at 1:26 pm

The Redskins will be without 29-year old TE Chris Cooley for the next few weeks due to a recurring left knee injury.  This means he could miss the start of the 2011 season.  Cooley played in 16 games (all starts) for the Redskins last year and he caught 77 passes for 849 yards (11.0 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  This could be a problem for the Redskins as Cooley is the second best pass catcher on the team behind only WR Santana Moss.  They need him to get well soon.

The Washington Redskins place Kareem Moore on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 1 January 2011 at 6:35 pm

The Washington Redskins place 26-year old safety Kareem Moore on the Injured Reserve List with a knee injury.  Moore played in 12 games for the Redskins this year and he had 64 tackles, 5 passes defensed, 1 interception and 2 forced fumbles.  Moore has now played in 42 games in his first three years with the Redskins and he has 113 tackles, 8 passes defensed, 2 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions.  Moore will be missed tomorrow against the Giants as he has improved in each of his three years with the Redskins.

The Washington Redskins place Kedric Golston on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Sunday 26 December 2010 at 1:40 pm

The Redskins have placed DE/DT Kedric Golston on the Injured Reserve List due to elbow and groin injuries.  Golston played in 13 games for the Redskins this year and he had 35 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  Golston has now played in 73 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has 152 tackles, 7 passes defensed, 5.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble.  Golston didn’t help much this year for the Redskins so they won’t miss him too much the last two weeks of the year.

The Washington Redskins lose Maake Kemoeatu for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 24 December 2010 at 1:14 am

The Washington Redskins have lost 31-year old DT Maake Kemoeatu for the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.  Kemoeatu played in 14 games for the Redskins this year and he had 29 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  The D-Line hasn’t played too well for the Redskins this season so they won’t miss Kemoeatu too much.

The Washington Redskins lose Phillip Daniels for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 24 December 2010 at 1:11 am

The Washington Redskins have placed 37-year old DE Phillip Daniels for the rest of the year due to a abdomen/groin injury.  Daniels played in 14 games for the Redskins this year and he had 21 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 sacks.  Daniels has now played in 82 games in six years with the Redskins and he has 182 tackles, 23 passes defensed, 17.5 sacks, 6 forced fumbles and 1 interception.  The Redskins will miss Daniels a little bit as he still had a little bit left in the gas tank.

The Washington Redskins place LaRon Landry on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 13 December 2010 at 9:48 pm

The Washington Redskins have placed safety LaRon Landry on the Injured Reserve List ending his season with a strained Achilles tendon.  Landry played in 9 games for the Redskins this year and he had 85 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 8 passes defensed, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.  Landry has now played in 56 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 335 tackles, 31 passes defensed, 4 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and 4 interceptions.  The Redskins have really missed Landry’s playmaking ability at the back end of the defense.

The Washington Redskins place three players on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Thursday 25 November 2010 at 7:32 pm

The Redskins have placed Clinton Portis (groin injury), Chad Simpson (foot surgery) and Anderson Russell (torn ACL) on the Injured Reserve List ending their seasons.  29-year old RB Clinton Portis played in 5 games for the Redskins this season and he carried the ball 54 times for 227 yards (4.2 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 5 passes for 55 yards (11.0 avg) this year.  This injury hurts the Skins as Portis is the best RB on the roster.  25-year old RB/KR Chad Simpson was injured in pre-game warmups last weekend.  Simpson played in 3 games for the Redskins this season and he returned 2 kickoffs for 59 yards (29.5 avg) and he had 1 tackle.  23-year old safety Anderson Russell played in 2 games for the Redskins and he had 2 tackles.  The Redskins can’t afford too many more injuries as the roster is getting pretty thin.

The Washington Redskins place Chris Horton on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 9 November 2010 at 1:32 pm

The Redskins have placed 25-year old safety Chris Horton on the Injured Reserve List with a right ankle injury.  Horton played in 7 games for the Redskins this year and he had 9 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  This will hurt the secondary depth a tad but the Redskins have been getting torched all year long by the passing game and Horton couldn’t earn his way into the starting lineup.

The Washington Redskins will be without Brandon Banks this weekend

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 9 November 2010 at 1:30 pm

The Redskins will be without KR/PR Brandon Banks for at least one week as he had minor knee surgery over the bye week.  Banks has returned 16 kickoffs for 436 yards (27.3 avg) with a TD return and he has returned 17 punts for 234 yards (13.8 avg) so far this year for the Redskins.  RB Chad Simpson will replace Banks on kickoff returns and CB Phillip Buchanon will replace Banks on punt returns.  Simpson has returned 2 kickoffs for 59 yards (29.5 avg) so far this year while Buchanon has returned 2 punts for 1 yard (0.5 avg) so far this year.  The Redskins are going to miss Banks as he has consistently given the offense good starting position.

The Washington Redskins could be without Chris Cooley for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 19 October 2010 at 2:24 pm

The Washington Redskins could be without starting TE Chris Cooley for a couple of weeks after he suffered a concussion against the Colts last Sunday Night.  Cooley has played in all six games for the Redskins so far this year and he has caught 28 passes for 340 yards (12.1 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Cooley has really become one of Donovan McNabb’s favorite targets early on this year so he will be missed unless 24-year old Fred Davis steps up.  Davis has played in all six games for the Redskins so far this year and he has caught 6 passes for 96 yards (16.0 avg).  Davis did play well last season when Cooley was out of action as the played in 16 games last season in which he caught 48 passes for 509 yards (10.6 avg) with 6 TD grabs.  I’m pretty confident that Davis will do a good job for the Redskins while Cooley is out of action.

UPDATE:  (10/22/2010) – It looks as if Cooley might be a go this Sunday against the Bears as he is making a quick recovery.
