The Redskins have placed 23-year old WR Malcolm Kelly on the Injured Reserve List with a hamstring injury.  Kelly played in all 16 games for the Redskins last season and he caught 25 passes for 347 yards (13.9 avg).  In two years with the Skins, Kelly has played in 21 games in which he has caught 28 passes for 365 yards (13.0 avg).  Kelly has been a huge disappointment for the Redskins since they drafted him three years ago in the 2nd round.

The Redskins have placed 33-year old WR/S Mike Furrey on the Injured Reserve List with a severe concussion.  He has had multiple concussions in his career so it could be over.  That is a shame because Furrey is so versatile that he’s a great player to have around.  He has played in 94 games in his NFL career in which he has caught 221 passes for 2,298 yards (10.4 avg) with 7 TD grabs.  Furrey also has 77 tackles, 6 passes defensed, 4 interceptions (143 yards in returns) with a 67-yard return for a TD and he has recovered 2 fumbles.  He could also return kickoffs or punts in a pinch.  He has returned 21 kickoffs for 387 yards (18.4 avg) and 23 punts for 213 yards (9.3 avg) in his NFL career.

The Washington Redskins lose Mike Williams for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Redskins Headlines, Injury Reports, General Redskins Talk by admin on Saturday 10 July 2010 at 11:09 am

The Redskins have lost veteran T/G Mike Williams for the 2010 season.   The Redskins signed Williams to a 2-year, $1.49 million dollar deal last March as a free agent.  He will miss the 2010 season because he has blood clots near his heart.  Thank God that they found the blood clots before Williams got onto the practice field or this could have been a tragedy.

The Redskins have placed strong safety Reed Doughty and OT Mike Williams on the Injured Reserve ending their seasons.  Doughty has a ankle injury and Williams a foot injury.  Doughty played in 15 games for the Redskins this season and he made 91 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, defensed 3 passes and he had 1 interception.  Mike Williams played in 8 games (all starts) for the Redskins this season.  They will miss both of these guys against the Chargers on Sunday.

Clinton Portis of the Washington Redskins is done for the year

The Redskins have placed starting RB Clinton Portis on the Injured Reserve List due to a serious concussion.  Portis played in 8 games for the Redskins this season and he carried the ball 124 times for 494 yards (4.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 9 passes for 57 yards (6.3 avg) with 1 TD grab.  This injury has really hurt the Redskins this season as it has put too much of the pressure on Jason Campbell to carry the team through the air.
