The Eagles took it to the Redskins last night as they had a 27-10 lead at the half and then they rode it out in the second half.  Jason Campbell completed 29 of 43 passes for 284 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception (it was returned 9 yards for a TD by Will Witherspoon).  Campbell also lost a fumble in this game.  Clinton Portis didn’t have his best game carrying the ball 14 times for 43 yards (3.1 ypc).  TE Fred Davis led the way in the passing game for the Redskins last night as he finished up with 8 catches for 78 yards (9.8 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Santana Moss also had a good game with 6 catches for 74 yards (12.3 avg) last night.  Devin Thomas finally did something positive for the Redskins in a regular season game as he caught 3 passes for 45 yards (15.0 avg) with a TD.  The Redskins finished up with 308 total yards on offense (62 rushing, 246 passing) in this game.

I thought the defense played pretty well against the Eagles minus two long plays that Desean Jackson scored on.  DE Andre Carter was living in the Eagles’ backfield as he finished up with 6 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss and 2 QB hits.  London Fletcher had another solid game with 6 tackles and a pass defensed.  The Eagles finished up with 244 total yards on offense (122 rushing, 122 passing) in this game.  The Redskins are now 2-5 on the season.

The Washington Redskins (2-4) looked awful on Sunday, losing to a win-less Kansas City Chiefs (1-5) squad.  The Redskins failed to score a touchdown and only got two field goals from Shaun Suisham in the third quarter.  Jason Campbell looked bad again and after only getting 89 yards on 9/16 and an interception in the first half, he was benched in the second half.  Todd Collins came in and wasn’t much better.  Collins went 6/14 for 75 yards and failed to reach the end-zone.  Head coach Jim Zorn has to take a lot of the blame and it looks like he is probably on his way out as it was announced today that Zorn has lost his play-calling authority.  Sherman Lewis is taking over the play-calling duties and is apparently a west-coast offensive guru.

The Redskins defense did a pretty solid job in this game, keeping the Chiefs out of the end-zone and limiting them to four field goals.  They got nothing out of their offense though, so there was not much they could do other than try and force some turnovers, which they failed to do.  They held Matt Cassel to 186 passing yards on 17/32 attempts.  They also limited running back Larry Johnson to only 83 yards on 23 carries.  Chiefs’ receiver Dwayne Bowe did too much damage though, going for 109 yards on only six catches (18.2 avg).  Clinton Portis was the only bright spot for the Redskins offense, rushing for 109 yards on 15 carries (7.2 avg) including a 78 yard run.  The Redskins look like they get worse week by week, and hopefully Sherman Lewis can revamp their offense.  Zorn still gets to decide who his starting quarterback will be though, and will decide sometime this week.  They will look to turn things around against the Philadelphia Eagles next week.

The Washington Redskins (2-3) could not get much going offensively Sunday and lost to the previously winless Carolina Panthers (1-3).  The Redskins were up 17-2 after a Clinton Portis touchdown run with 10 minutes to play in the 3rd quarter.  Portis finished the contest with only 57 yards on 19 carries (3.0 avg), but he did have both of the Redskins touchdowns.  The Redskins looked like they were going to win easily, but they could not keep their lead and let the Panthers score 18 unanswered points.

The Panthers made some adjustments as halftime as all of their 18 offensive points came in the second half.  The only points the Panthers could get in the first half came from a safety.  Thomas Davis tackled Portis in the endzone during the second quarter for the two points.  The Panthers defense looked improved but it was more of the Redskins offense not making plays.  Campbell only passed for 145 yards on 17/23 (74%), but he did have a touchdown.  Campbell did not throw any picks, but he just was not very aggressive and rarely looked to put the ball down field.  The Redskins are at home next week playing the winless Kansas City Chiefs, but they have now lost two games to a winless team and need to make sure they come in focused against the Chiefs.

The Redskins were down 10-0 at the half and they were hearing the boo birds again at home.  But, they came out of the locker room breathing fire in the 3rd quarter scoring 16 points and then they held the Bucs off in the 4th quarter to win the game.  Jason Campbell had a game to forget as he completed 12 of 22 passes for 170 yards with 2 TD passes and 3 INTs.  He also carried the ball 7 times for 20 yards (2.9 ypc).  But he fumbled the ball twice losing one of them.  Clinton Portis was 50/50 to play in this game and all he did was rush for 98 yards on 25 carries (3.9 ypc).  Santana Moss (2 rec, 74 yards) and Chris Cooley (5 rec, 65 yards) each caught 1 TD pass apiece.  The Redskins finished up with 277 total yards on offense (125 rushing, 152 passing) in this game.

Safety Reed Doughty (11 tackles) and LB London Fletcher (9 tackles, sack, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 QB hit) led the way for the Redskins on defense.  The Bucs finished up with 229 total yards on offense (129 rushing, 100 passing) in this game.  The Redskins are now 2-2 on the season.

The Redskins snapped the Lions’ 19-game losing streak yesterday as they just didn’t play a good football game.  The heat will be on Jim Zorn because he called a short pass at the end of the game with some pitches involved instead of just throwing the ball in the end zone despite losing by five points at the time.  Jason Campbell actually played a solid game here completing 27 of 41 passes for 340 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception.  He also had 1 carry for 21 yards.  The Redskins abandoned the running game early in this game as Clinton Portis led the team with only 42 yards rushing on 12 carries (3.5 ypc).  Jason Campbell did a good job of spreading the ball around as 10 different players caught at least 1 pass in this game.  But it was Santana Moss who stood out for the Skins catching 10 passes for 178 yards (17.8 avg) with a TD grab.  The Redskins rolled up 390 total yards on offense in this game (65 rushing, 325 passing) despite only having possession of the football for 23:12.

The Redskins did not play good at all on defense as they just couldn’t get off the field.  LB London Fletcher (16 tackles) and safety LaRon Landry (8 tackles) led the way for the Skins yesterday.  The Lions finished up this game with 381 total yards on offense (154 rushing, 227 passing).  The Redskins are now 1-2 on the season.

The Redskins controlled the clock for 34:53 of this game and that really helped out the defense.  Jason Campbell completed 23 of 35 passes for 242 yards yesterday.  He also carried the ball 7 times for 28 yards (4.0 ypc) but he couldn’t lead the team to any TDs against the Rams.  Clinton Portis was solid in this game carrying the ball 19 times for 79 yards (4.2 ypc) and catching 2 passes for 9 yards (4.5 avg).  Chris Cooley was the main man in the passing game for the Redskins with 7 grabs for 83 yards (11.9 avg).  The Redskins finished up with 362 total yards on offense (125 rushing, 237 passing) in this game.

LB London Fletcher led the way for the Redskins on D with 9 tackles yesterday.  Safety Chris Horton (8 tackles) and CB Carlos Rogers (5 tackles, fumble recovery) both also helped out Fletcher on the D.  The Rams finished up with 245 total yards on offense (126 rushing, 119 passing) in this game.  The Redskins improve to 1-1 with the ugly win yesterday.

The offense was the reason the Redskins last yesterday.  Jason Campbell completed 19 of 26 passes for 211 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 16 yards.  Clinton Portis carried the ball 16 times for 62 yards (3.9 ypc) yesterday.  Punter Hunter Smith got 1 carry for 8 yards which went for a TD with 21 seconds to go before halftime.  It was a fake field goal and it was a beautiful play as Smith was untouched on his journey to the end zone.  Antwaan Randle El (98 yards) and TE Chris Cooley (68 yards, TD) each caught 7 passes apiece in this game.  The Redskins only had possession of the ball for 23:52 of this game finishing with 272 total yards on offense (85 rushing, 187 passing).

The defense appeared to get tired in this game as they were on the field far too long.  Linebacker London Fletcher led the way for the Skins with 18 tackles in this game.  CB DeAngelo Hall pitched in with 7 tackles and a interception.  The Giants finished up with 351 total yards in this game (103 rushing, 248 passing).

The Redskins dominated possession of the football last Sunday holding onto it for 34:45 of this game.  They rushed for 203 yards on 44 carries (4.6 ypc) in this game and that made everything seem to work well on the offense.  Clinton Portis was outstanding rushing for 145 yards on 29 carries (5.0 ypc) with a TD run as the Eagles just couldn’t deal with him.  Jason Campbell had a solid game completing 16 of 29 passes for 176 yards as all he had to do was manage this game.  TE Chris Cooley led the way in the passing game for the Redskins in this one with 8 catches for 109 yards (13.6 avg) including a 18-yard TD grab from WR Antwaan Randle El.

The defense gave a great team effort in suffocating the Eagles’ offense holding them to 254 total yards.  The Redskins were especially tough against the run holding the Eagles to 58 yards rushing on 18 carries (3.2 ypc).  The Redskins improved to a very impressive 4-1 record with this win.

The Redskins were ballhogs in this game and it paid off in the end with a huge road win last Sunday.  Jason Campbell was very effective completing 20 of 31 passes for 231 yards with 2 TD passes.  Clinton Portis shredded the Cowboys’ defense with 121 yards rushing on 21 carries (5.8 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 14 yards.  Ladell Betts also helped out in the running game with 32 yards rushing on 11 carries (2.9 ypc).  Santana Moss was the main man in the passing game for the Redskins in this game with 145 yards receiving on 8 catches (18.1 avg).  Antwaan Randle El and James Thrash each pitched in with a TD grab apiece.  The Redskins finished up this game with 161 yards rushing on 37 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 31 passes for 220 yards.  The Skins held onto the football for a stunning 38:09 of this game and it was a big reason for the win.

The Redskins’ defense didn’t really play well but just good enough to prevail.  CB Carlos Rogers (7 tackles), LB London Fletcher (5 tackles) and S Chris Horton (3 tackles, INT) led the way for the Skins in this game.  The Cowboys finished up with 44 yards rushing on 11 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 28 of 47 passes for 300 yards.  The Redskins improved to 3-1 on the season with this huge victory.

The Redskins played just good enough to beat the Cardinals last Sunday.  Jason Campbell was solid in completing 22 of 30 passes for 193 yards with 2 TD passes.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 26 yards (6.5 ypc).  Antwaan Randle El completed his only pass attempt for 11 yards and he also caught 3 passes for 23 yards.  Clinton Portis carried the ball 21 times for 68 yards (3.2 ypc) with a TD run.  He also caught 2 passes for 19 yards (9.5 avg).  WR Santana Moss led the way in the passing game for the Redskins with 7 catches for 75 yards (10.7 avg) with a TD grab.  The Redskins finished up with 136 yards rushing on 31 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 31 passes for 187 yards.

The defense was stout when it needed to be to help the Redskins win this game.  LB Rocky McIntosh (10 tackles, 1/2 sack) and S Reed Doughty (9 tackles) both had solid games to lead the Redskins on defense.  CB Carlos Rogers also had a huge game with 4 tackles, a interception and a fumble recovery.  The Cardinals finished up with 116 yards rushing on 23 carries (5.0 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 31 passes for 197 yards.  The Redskins are now 2-1 on the season with this win.
