The Washington Redskins sign TE Richard Quinn

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by admin on Tuesday 13 December 2011 at 9:00 pm

The Redskins have signed 25-year old TE Richard Quinn.  Quinn played in 14 games for the Broncos last year and he caught 1 pass for 9 yards.  He has now played in 29 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has only 1 catch for 9 yards.  He is known more for his run blocking.  The Redskins need help at TE, so this signing made perfect sense for them.

The Washington Redskins sign TE Dominique Byrd

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by admin on Wednesday 7 December 2011 at 6:51 pm

The Redskins have signed 27-year old TE Dominique Byrd.  Byrd played in 1 game for the Seahawks earlier this year but he didn’t have any catches.  Byrd has now played in 15 games (0 starts) in his first three years in the NFL and he has caught 6 passes for 83 yards (13.8 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Byrd will help out with the depth at TE due to the suspension of Fred Davis for the last four games of the 2011 NFL season.

UPDATE:  (12/20/2011) – The Redskins have waived Dominique Byrd.  Byrd played in 2 games for the Redskins this year but he didn’t catch any passes.

The Washington Redskins sign OT Ryan Polumbus

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by admin on Wednesday 9 November 2011 at 8:50 pm

The Redskins have signed 26-year old OT Tyler Polumbus.  He played in 5 games (0 starts) earlier this year for the Seahawks.  He has now played in 51 games (15 starts) in his first four years in the NFL.  The Redskins’ offensive line has been decimated by injuries, which has short circuited the offense.  With that in mind, I really like this pickup for the Redskins.

The Washington Redskins sign DT Kentwan Balmer

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by admin on Wednesday 9 November 2011 at 12:41 pm

The Redskins have signed 25-year old DT Kentwan Balmer.  Balmer played in all 16 games for the Seahawks last year and he had 43 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 4 tackles for a loss.  Balmer has now played in 43 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has 62 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 4 tackles for a loss.  The Redskins need more help on the interior of the D-Line and they hope Balmer will give it to them.

The Washington Redskins sign WR David Anderson

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by admin on Wednesday 9 November 2011 at 12:37 pm

The Redskins have signed 28-year old WR David Anderson.  Anderson played in 2 games earlier this year with the Texans and he caught 1 pass for 9 yards.  He has now played in 63 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has caught 82 passes for 895 yards (10.9 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  The Redskins are hoping that Anderson will be the possession type #3 WR that they have been looking for.

The Washington Redskins sign a couple of offensive players

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by admin on Thursday 27 October 2011 at 2:20 pm

The Washington Redskins have signed 27-year old TE Dominique Byrd and 25-year old G/C Jonathan Compas.  Byrd played in 1 game for the Seahawks earlier this year but he didn’t catch any passes.  Byrd has now played in 15 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has caught 6 passes for 83 yards (13.8 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Compas played in 2 games back in 2009 for the Buccaneers.  The Redskins need all the help they can get due to the recent rash of injuries on the offense.

UPDATE:  (10/28/2011) – The Redskins have waived Jonathan Compas.

UPDATE II:  (11/9/2011) – The Redskins have waived Dominique Byrd.  He didn’t get into any games for the Redskins.

The Washington Redskins sign kicker Clint Stitser

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by admin on Wednesday 17 August 2011 at 11:44 pm

The Redskins have signed 26-year old kicker Clint Stitser to provide some competition for Graham Gano.  Stitser played in 5 games for the Bengals last year in which he connected of 7 of 8 field goals (87.5%).  He also connected on 8 of 10 extra points to finish with 29 points in his first season in the NFL.  Stitser will likely have a hard time beating out Gano, but I like that the Redskins decided to bring in more competition for him even after releasing Shayne Graham.

UPDATE:  (8/31/2011) – The Redskins have released Clint Stitser.

The Washington Redskins sign TE Tony Curtis

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by admin on Wednesday 17 August 2011 at 1:57 pm

The Redskins have signed 27-year old TE Tony Curtis.  Curtis last played in an NFL game back in 2008 with the Cowboys.  He has played in 36 games (6 starts) in his first three years in the NFL and he has caught 11 passes for 50 yards (4.5 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  Curtis has also returned 4 kickoffs for 31 yards (7.8 avg) so far in his NFL career.  This signing was directly related to Chris Cooley’s injury.

UPDATE:  (9/4/2011) – The Redskins have released Tony Curtis.

The Washington Redskins sign TE Derek Schouman

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by admin on Wednesday 10 August 2011 at 7:59 pm

The Redskins have signed 26-year old TE Derek Schouman.  Schouman played in 3 games for the Rams last year but he didn’t catch any passes.  He has now played in 24 games in his first four years in the NFL and Schouman has caught 27 passes for 275 yards (10.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  This was a depth signing and little more for the Redskins as Schouman hasn’t been able to stay healthy so far in his NFL career.

The Washington Redskins sign LB Keyaron Fox

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by admin on Monday 8 August 2011 at 1:11 pm

The Redskins have signed 29-year old linebacker Keyaron Fox.  Fox played in all 16 games for the Steelers last year and he had 23 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.  He has now played in 85 games in his first 7 years in the NFL and he has 168 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 4 passes defensed and 1 interception (he returned it for a TD).  Fox will give the Redskins depth at linebacker but his main role will be as a special teams ace.  This was a good signing for the Redskins.
