The Washington Redskins might have something if Jason Campbell would protect the football better

If Jason Campbell weren’t turning the ball over at an alarming rate the Redskins would be in great shape.  Campbell has completed 219 of 364 passes (60.2%) for 2,384 yards with 12 TD passes and 10 interceptions (79.1 QB Rating) so far this season.  Campbell has also carried the football 31 times for 169 yards (5.5 ypc) with a TD run.  But, his big problem has been with fumbles as he has 11….but he has lost 7 of them and that’s just not acceptable.

I still can’t figure out how the Redskins could lose a game in which they had 412 yards of offense and only allowed 191 yards…..but they did exactly just that last Sunday.  Jason Campbell had a so-so game as he completed 30 of 49 passes for 301 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 interceptions.  Clinton Portis also had a rough game as he carried the ball 20 times for 68 yards (3.4 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 33 yards (6.6 avg).  But his biggest mistake was losing two fumbles.  LaDell Betts had a solid game with 47 yards rushing on 8 carried (5.9 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 32 yards (10.7 avg).  Chris Cooley had a monster game with 6 catches for 96 yards (16.0 avg) with a TD catch.  Keenan McCardell had one of his better games as he caught 6 passes for 60 yards (10.0 avg).  The Redskins finished up with 120 yards rushing on 31 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 30 of 49 passes for 292.

Safety Reed Doughty led the way for the Skins defense with 8 tackles.  The Bucs finished up with 99 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 11 of 23 passes for 92 yards.

The Redskins would have won this game if they just could have stopped Terrell Owens who caught 8 passes for 173 yards with 4 TD passes against them today!  Jason Campbell had a solid game as he completed 33 of 54 passes for 348 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 18 yards (9.0 ypc).  Clinton Portis got stuffed all game as he only rushed for 36 yards on 12 carries (3.0 ypc).  Santana Moss had his best game of the season as he caught 9 passes for 121 yards (13.4 avg) with 1 TD grab.  TE Chris Cooley also had one of his better games of the season with 8 grabs for 87 yards (10.9 avg) with a TD.  Keenan McCardell had his best game as a Redskin with 5 catches for 76 yards (15.2 avg) and Antwaan Randle El also was busy with 7 catches for 53 yards (7.6 avg) and he also completed a pass for 19 yards.  The Redskins finished up with 62 yards rushing on 17 carries (3.6 ypc) and they also completed 34 of 55 passes for 361 yards.

The Redskins defense was led by Shawn Springs (7 tackles) and London Fletcher (7 tackles, interception).  The Cowboys finished up with 72 yards rushing on 25 carries (2.9 ypc) and they completed 22 of 32 passes for 287 yards.

The Redskins were leading this game 22-13 with 12:36 left in this football game and they choked.  Jason Campbell had a great game as he completed 23 of 34 passes for 215 yards with 3 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 16 yards (4.0 ypc).  Clinton Portis had a monster game as he carried the ball 30 times for 137 yards (4.6 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 20 yards (5.0 avg).  James Thrash had a huge game against his old team as he caught 5 passes for 85 yards (17.0 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  The Redskins finished with 158 yards rushing on 36 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 34 passes for 203 yards.

The Washington Redskins won this game with their offense.  Jason Campbell didn’t do much as he completed 12 of 23 passes for 142 yards with a interception.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 31 yards (15.5 ypc).  Clinton Portis had a monster game against the Jets as he carried the ball 36 times for 196 yards (5.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  LaDell Betts played when Portis needed a breather and he carried the ball 9 times for 64 yards (7.1 ypc).  Chris Cooley (4 rec, 58 yards) and Santana Moss (4 rec, 49 yards) pitched in on the offense.  The Redskins finished up with 296 yards rushing on 48 carries (6.2 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 23 passes for 135 yards.

The defense just played good enough to give the offense a chance to win the game in OT.  Rocky McIntosh led the way on the defense with 12 tackles but rookie LaRon Landry had a monster game with 7 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.  The Jets finished up with 124 yards rushing on 26 carries (4.8 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 42 passes for 214 yards.
