Shaun Suisham made a 39 yard field goal in overtime to propel the Redskins to a win over the Dolphins.  QB Jason Campbell had a rough game as he completed 12 of 21 passes for 222 yards with 2 interceptions and he also carried the football 4 times for 29 yards (7.3 ypc).  Clinton Portis and LaDell Betts split up the workload in the running game.  Portis led the way with 98 yards on 17 carries (5.8 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Betts carried the ball 17 times for 59 yards (3.5 ypc).  WR Antwaan Randle El had the best game he has ever had for the Redskins as he caught 5 passes for 162 yards (32.4 avg).  The Redskins finished up with 191 yards rushing on 41 carries (4.7 ypc) and they completed 12 of 21 passes for 209 yards.

Linebackers London Fletcher and Rocky McIntosh led the way on the defense for the Redskins as they each had 12 tackles.  McIntosh also added a sack.  The Redskins held the Dolphins to 66 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.3 ypc).  But, the Dolphins completed 24 of 38 passes for 207 yards so the Skins have some things to work on for next week.

The over/under for Washington Redskins wins is 7.5 for 2007

I like the Redskins stable of running backs but teams will try to stack the box and dare the Redskins to throw the football.  The Redskins will need Jason Campbell and Antwaan Randle El to step up if the passing game is going to take off.  TE Chris Cooley and WR Santana Moss are outstanding targets in the passing game but they need help.  The defense should be better against the run with LB London Fletcher and rookie SS LaRon Landry.  Still, I have to take the under for the Redskins this season.

Washington Redskins vs. Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, This Week's Matchup Report, General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Friday 7 September 2007 at 6:44 pm
The Miami Dolphins have a young offensive line and that could be a problem against the Redskins.  The Dolphins would prefer to run the football with RB Ronnie Brown and Jesse Chatman but it might be tough against the Redskins’ linebackers (MLB London Fletcher, OLBs Marcus Washington and Rocky McIntosh) who make plays from sideline to sideline.  If the Dolphins can’t run the ball look for them to try to spread the Redskins defense out with 3 WR sets with Chris Chambers, Marty Booker and Ted Ginn Jr.  vs. CBs Shawn Springs and Carlos Rogers.  If Trent Green has time he will be able to take advantage of the Skins’ corners but he must beware of the best young safety tandem in the NFL in rookie SS LaRon Landry and FS Sean Taylor.

The Redskins will likely strap their chinstraps tight and run the football against the Dolphins.  The Redskins have one of the best offensive lines in football and the Dolphins have one of the best linebacking corps in the league so something will have to give.  RBs Clinton Portis and LaDell Betts will likely challenge LBs Channing Crowder and Zach Thomas on the inside and DE/LB Jason Taylor and OLB Joey Porter on the perimeter.  The Dolphins have a poor secondary so if they don’t get pressure on Jason Campbell he should be able to get the ball downfield to WRs Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El.  Also TE Chris Cooley will be a weapon if the Dolphins bring heat against Campbell.

It will be fun to watch K Shaun Suisham and P Derrick Frost dealing with Ted Ginn Jr. of te Dolphins.  He can take any kick to the house.  But, it will also be interesting to watch Jay Feely kicking to Rock Cartwright and rookie Punter Brandon Fields kicking to Antwaan Randle El.

PREDICTION: This will be a low scoring game that the Redskins will sneak away with as the victors.

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General Redskins Talk by mrgumby59 on Friday 7 September 2007 at 10:20 am

Our season ticket package did not arrive, dad called ticket office April 16th, they told him no problem , send in check, he did. They signed for it April 24th, then called him back on April 28th saying our check did not arrive in time and our seats had been given to someone else. 40 yd line 10 rows from the field, since 1961. Now we heard the same thing happened to another elderly person. Anyone else heard of this?
