The Washington Redskins sign OT Jason Fabini

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Monday 26 March 2007 at 11:31 pm

The Redskins have signed Jason Fabini.  He played in 15 games for the Dallas Cowboys last season.  Over his career, Fabini has played in 129 games (114 starts).  Fabini is 6’7″, 309 pounds and he should be able to help the Redskins with their depth along the front line.

The Washington Redskins release WR David Patten

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Sunday 25 March 2007 at 1:01 am

The Redskins have released veteran WR David Patten.  The Skins are deep at WR so they won’t view this as any kind of loss.  He played in 5 games for the Skins last season and he only caught 1 pass for 25 yards.  Patten’s career appears to be at the end.

The Redskins trade safety Adam Archuleta to the Chicago Bears

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Redskins Headlines by dawgpounded on Saturday 24 March 2007 at 11:41 am

The Redskins have traded Adam Archuleta to the Bears for a sixth round draft pick.  Archuleta played in all 16 games for the Skins last season and he made 60 tackles, had 1 sack and defensed a pass.  He was a huge disappointment for the Skins as he lost his job near the end of the season.  This is a good move for the Redskins as it’s always good to get a draft pick for a player that just doesn’t fit into their plans.

The Washington Redskins re-sign OT Todd Wade to a 2-year contract

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Sunday 18 March 2007 at 4:28 pm

Wade didn’t play much last season as he appeared in 2 games for the Redskins (1 start) last season.  In 7 seasons, Wade has played in 88 games and he’s started 86 of them.  Look for the big 6’8″, 317 pound Wade to battle for a starting job on the Redskins this season.

The Redskins re-sign a couple of their own free agents

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Tuesday 13 March 2007 at 1:21 pm

The Redskins re-signed DT Ryan Boschetti and TE Todd Yoder.  Boschetti played 2 games last season and he made 4 tackles.  Over his three year career Boschetti has played in 18 games and he only made 12 tackles.  He’ll be a back up again this season for the Redskins if he can make the team.  Yoder has been mostly a blocker and special teams player with the Redskins.  He played in 14 games (0 starts) and he caught 1 pass for 4 yards and a TD in 2006.

The Redskins sign offensive lineman Ross Tucker

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Thursday 8 March 2007 at 11:59 pm

Tucker didn’t play last season after getting cut by the Cleveland Browns.  This is just a depth move as any lineman that gets cut by the Browns can’t be too good.  In his favor is the fact that he can play every position on the offensive line.

The Redskins release kicker John Hall

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,Redskins Headlines by dawgpounded on Wednesday 7 March 2007 at 11:03 pm

The Redskins released kicker John Hall earlier today.  He only played in 5 games last year for the Skins and he made 9 of 11 field goals and all 9 of his extra points.  Hall is a good kicker but he only played in 33 games the last 3 seasons and was very injury prone.

The Redskins re-sign CB Ade Jimoh

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Tuesday 6 March 2007 at 8:01 pm

The Redskins have re-signed CB Ade Jimoh who is a really good special teams player.  He played in all 16 games for the Redskins last season and he made 18 tackles, defensed 3 passes and recovered a fumble.

The Redskins bring back Fred Smoot

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Sunday 4 March 2007 at 10:41 pm

The Redskins have brought back CB Fred Smoot as a free agent after he played two seasons in Minnesota.  Last season Smoot played in 14 games and he made 61 tackles, had an interception that he returned 47 yards for a TD, defensed 4 passes, forced 2 fumbles and recovered a fumble.  Smoot should improve the secondary from day #1.

The Redskins re-sign three key players

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Friday 2 March 2007 at 10:56 pm

The Redskins have re-signed SS Vernon Fox, OG Randy Thomas and FB Mike Sellers.  OG Randy Thomas is the best of the three players that Redskins re-signed.  He started all 16 games last season for the Redskins and he was outstanding.  In his 4 years in Washington he has started 61 games.  FB Mike Sellers played in all 16 games (6 starts) last season and he carried the football 12 times for 51 yards (4.3 ypc).  He also caught 18 passes for 105 yards (5.8 avg) with 1 TD catch.  Sellers is a good all-around fullback as he’s a solid blocker in the running game.  SS Vernon Fox had been a back up most of his career but he got some playing time last season.  He played in all 16 games and he made 52 tackles, intercepted 1 pass and defensed 2 passes.  It was a good idea to re-sign all three of these Redskins that were solid contributors last season.
