Mark Brunell agrees to restructure contract

This was a good move for both the Redskins and Brunell.  Brunell now doesn’t have to go looking for a new job and the Redskins remain solid from 1-3 on the depth chart at QB.  Brunell played in 10 games (9 starts) and he completed 162 of 260 passes (62.3%) for 1,789 yards with 8 TD passes and only 4 interceptions (86.5 QB Rating).

The Redskins release TE Christian Fauria

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Wednesday 28 February 2007 at 10:46 pm

The Redskins released Christian Fauria today.  It wasn’t a surprise because Fauria really didn’t do too much to earn his paycheck last season.  He played in 9 games last season and only caught 2 passes for 17 yards (8.5 avg).  This was addition by subtraction for the Redskins.

The Redskins re-sign guard Mike Pucillo

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by dawgpounded on Tuesday 27 February 2007 at 8:36 pm

The Redskins have re-signed Mike Pucillo to a one year contract.  The Redskins like him as a back up, but they don’t consider him starting material.  He played in 12 games last season and recovered a fumble.

The Redskins release Troy Vincent

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk by ravenhater on Friday 23 February 2007 at 10:20 am

This is no surprise as the 36 year old safety seemed to have lost it at his advanced age.  Vincent only played in 9 games for the Redskins last season and he made 22 tackles.  He seemed to have lost a lot of his speed and big play ability so the Redskins felt they could spend their money best elsewhere.

Todd Yoder played in 14 games (0 starts) and he caught 1 pass for 4 yards and a TD.  For his career, Yoder has played in 87 games (10 starts) and he has caught 29 passes for 304 yards (10.5 avg) with 3 TD grabs.

The Redskins do a horrible job in last April’s draft

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Redskins Talk,The Draft Report by ravenhater on Thursday 1 February 2007 at 4:41 pm

Someone in the front office for the Redskins better figure out that football isn’t like baseball.  You don’t trade draft picks for veterans that can’t cut it.  The draft is very important in the NFL in the salary cap era, because it’s the only way to fill in holes on the roster cheaply.  Here’s the breakdown of last April’s draft:

OLB Rocky McIntosh was the first pick of the Redskins (2nd round).  He played in all 16 games and made 28 tackles.  The Redskins drafted him to fill a hole and he didn’t do much of a job so the Skins have to be disappointed.

In the 5th round the Skins selected DT Anthony Mongomery. He played in 5 games and made 9 tackles and had 1/2 a sack.

In the 6th round the Redskins drafted strong safety Reed Doughty.  Doughty pretty much was just a special teams player as he played in 10 games and made 13 tackles.

The Redskins best pick was 6th rounder Kedric Golston (DT).  He played in all 16 games and made 44 tackles, had a 1/2 sack, defensed 3 passes and recovered a fumble.  He looks like a starter for the Redskins next season.

The Redskins didn’t get much out of the 7th round picks they made.  OG Kili Lefotu didn’t play a down and ILB Kevin Simon didn’t make the team.
