T.J. Duckett was the forgotten man on the Redskins as he didn’t fit in with Joe Gibbs’ offense.  Duckett played in 10 games and only carried the ball 38 times for 132 yards (3.5 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 2 passes for 16 yards.  For his career, Duckett has played in 65 games (13 starts) and he has carried the ball 590 times for 2,307 yards (3.9 ypc) with 33 TD runs.  He has also caught 31 passes for 249 yards (8.0 avg).

Is the NFL passing Joe Gibbs by?

After watching the Washington Redskins limp through a 5-11 record, one has to think if Coach Gibbs can handle coaching in the salary cap era.  When he was having all of his success during the Hall of Fame portion of his career, their was no salary cap.  For his career, Gibbs is 145-87 (62.5%) during the regular season and 17-6 in the post-season.  Hopefully Gibbs won’t stick with under-performing veterans anymore just because they’ve been around.

The Redskins decided after 9 games this season that it was the right time to get a glimpse of the near future when they benched Mark Brunell and elevated Jason Campbell to the starting line-up.  Campbell started the last 7 games of the season and he completed 110 of 207 passes (53.1%) for 1,297 yards with 10 TD passes and 6 interceptions (76.5 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 24 times for 107 yards (4.5 ypc).

Mark Brunell played in 10 games (9 starts) and he completed 162 of 260 passes (62.3%) for 1,789 yards with 8 TD passes and 4 interceptions (86.5 QB Rating).  He also ran the ball 13 times for 34 yards (2.6 ypc).  For his career, Brunell has played in 157 games (150 starts) and he’s completed 2,738 of 4,594 passes (59.6%) for 31,826 yards with 182 TD passes and 106 interceptions (84.2 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 509 times for 2,433 yards (4.8 ypc) with 15 TD runs.

The Redskins really need to put more trick plays into the offense to take advantage of Antwaan Randle El’s throwing ability.  For the Redskins this season, he completed 2 of 3 passes (66.7%) for 88 yards with 1 TD pass (149.3 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 19 times for 118 yards (6.2 ypc).  For his career, Randle El has completed 16 of 19 passes (84.2%) for 216 yards with 3 TD passes (153.6 QB Rating).  He also has carried the football 73 times for 434 yards (5.9 ypc).
