Roger “Rocky” McIntosh (2, OLB)

The Redskins moved aggressively and traded up to get McIntosh to possibly replace LaVar Arrington in the starting line-up.  McIntosh plays full speed all the time and must be accounted for by the offense.  McIntosh has good speed (4.65 40) even though he is a little small (6′2″,235).  McIntosh has the ability to play inside or outside, but he looks like a better fit for the Redskins at outside linebacker.

McIntosh has played in 46 games (26 starts) and has made 256 tackles, 32 tackles for a loss, 9.5 sacks and broke up seven passes.

Mark Brunell is back for an encore

Mark Brunell looked washed up his first year in Washington but Coach Gibbs gave him another shot and he ran with it, throwing 23 TD passes to only 10 interceptions compiling an outstanding 85.9 QB rating.  Brunell was showing small glimpses of his great days with the Jaguars but he doesn’t have the mobility he once had.  Brunell has played in 147 games (141 starts) and completed 59.4% of his passes for 30,037 yards with 174 TD passes and 102 interceptions for a career rating of 84.1.  Brunell also has 2,399 career rushing yards with 15 TD runs.  The rushing part of his game has eroded with time, but he can still throw the ball.

Todd Collins was brought on to be the back-up for Brunell.  Collins hasn’t played much, because he was backing up Trent Green who has been an ironman for the Chiefs.  Collins has played in 40 games (17 starts) and completed 55.3% of his passes for 3,447 yards with 17 TD passes and 19 interceptions for a QB rating of 70.4.  Collins would probably be ok in the Skins offense but there would be a drop-off from Brunell.

Jason Campbell is the Skins QB of the future.  Campbell will probably just hold a clipboard again this season and try to learn from the two veteran QB’s on the roster.  His time is coming soon…..just not yet.
